On further examination, it was found that when trying to make a trench cut, the front part of the cut was actually deeper than the back part of the cut, so there is a small misalignment between the plane of the slide axis and the plane of the table top. This makes it difficult to make square trench cuts. Naturally, if you dont plan on making trench cuts with the saw anyway, it isn't an issue, but if you do and need this feature, I'd be checking the saw out at the store first if possible to look for this problem. Dust Extraction
A small dust port is located behind the blade, and a small dust bag is provided to connect to this port. MAKITA CF201DZ battery Like most miter saws, the majority of dust rarely finds its way into the dust port and bag. This is not simply a problem with these particular saws, its a problem with almost every miter saw. Their inherent design does not favor dust collection, and sliding saws are even more difficult to catch dust from. Your best solution is to use these saws outdoors. Failing that, you should build a hood around the back of your saw that is hooked up to a 2HP+ dust extractor. This hood should allow full movement of the saw through its range of miter settings and bevel cutting settings. There are some good examples of home-made saw dust hoods available online, and there are also some commercial hoods available for sliding saws, but the price tags are high. MAKITA CF201DZW battery

Conclusion
Well, I must say that the build quality of the saw in general was better than I expected. MAKITA DF445D battery Sure there are some issues with some of the components, but most can be readily worked around if your saw purchase must meet a specified budget. When you consider the retail prices of the saws - the smaller LSMS210 retails for AUD$249, and the larger LSMS250 retails for AUD$299, these saws offer good value for money. With an investment in a better quality blade with more teeth, these saws become a tool that can stand up and be counted, and compared in some aspects to saws retailing for at least three times the price. MAKITA DF445DRH battery

Naturally, the question of durability over time is one we cannot answer at this stage, MAKITA DF445DSHG battery having only used the saws for a 6 week period (we will update the review at a later stage to include information on this factor), but the 2 year home/commercial/trade use warranty offered will guarantee at least 2 years of use for your investment in the worst case scenario. Plus the 30 day satisfaction guarantee means you can purchase the saw, and if not happy with its features and functions advertised, return it for a full refund. MAKITA DF445DSHX battery

For me, the biggest noteworthy aspect of saws of this type is how well and how accurately they can make both stationery and sliding cuts at varied bevel and miter angles, and after having used a better quality blade on these saws for testing purposes, I can say they are able to achieve high-accuracy cutting results when good tool technique is used. MAKITA MR050 battery

Both the LSMS210 and 250 are easy to use and adjust and would suit all types of woodworkers, re-modelers or contractors not willing or able to spend AUD$800+ on a sliding miter saw in the "pro" class. On a dollar-for-dollar comparison between these saws and those costing $800+, these latest GMC miter saws stack up quite well indeed. MAKITA TD135D battery

I must say that when I read about GMC's latest jigsaw, it certainly caught my attention. A number of innovative features not seen on jigsaws in the past is what had me reading more about it... MAKITA TD135DRH battery

We had the opportunity to get our hands on one and we waited for it to arrive quite anxiously. We have used pendulum jigsaws before, no big deal, but the LS950SPJ is a scrolling pendulum jigsaw... and with a laser guide as standard. Now that is something different indeed. Let's take a closer look. MAKITA TD135DSHG battery

First Things First
The LS950SPJ ships in a moulded carry case, which is handy for transportation and to keep dust at bay in storage. A hex key, dust connector and standard blade is also supplied with the tool. Usually, the blades supplied with most new tools are sub-standard. It was interesting to note that the supplied blade was marked as "swiss-made" and certainly felt sharper than what you would expect from standard blades shipped with tools. This proved to be the case during the tests as well. MAKITA TD135DSHX battery

The manual supplied should be seen as a good example of what all manufacturers should supply as documentation. MAKITA BTD150RJ battery Full color on thick glossy paper with easy to read print and excellent photos. Layout and design also makes the grade. It's obvious some thought, planning and execution has gone into compiling the manual, rather than it being an after-thought for a product, or worse yet, a photocopied sheet of paper that you can't even read as found with some tools! Other manufacturers should take notes of this example. We did spot one small error in the manual in terms of the scroll function use. it mentions setting the pendulum lever to the "o" position, when in fact, this should be the "S" position. The manual isn't perfect, but it comes close! MAKITA BTD150 battery

Perhaps one of the most recognized power tools for the woodworker or carpenter, the circular saw offers portability and versatility to the user. It is the "go anywhere" power tool of choice when it comes to cutting wood for a wide variety of tasks or projects. Builders and carpenters usually own several! MAKITA BTW150SA battery
For finer cabinetry work in a well-equipped workshop, the circular saw may not see as much use, particularly if a table saw or cabinet saw is available, however, the circular saw is still the best option for tasks like breaking down large sheet goods in the absence of a large sliding table for the stationary saw, or a panel saw. MAKITA BTW150SAE battery

I once owned the Triton 235mm circular saw, but sold it along with my Triton workstation when I bought a new cabinet saw. To this day I still regret letting it go. It was a solid saw with great cutting capacity. I have been using a 7 1/4" circular saw ever since and there have been numerous times when I need that extra cut depth the 9 1/4" (235mm) circular saw offers. MAKITA BTW150SJ battery

I managed to get my hands on the GMC LS236LS 235mm circular saw recently and gave it a good look over and workout. What follows is my review of the tool MAKITA BTW151 battery

GMC LS236LS Circular Saw
First and foremost, the saw comes packed in a box with good styrofoam casing protection. There is no plastic case for the saw (very few circular saws come with them) and even fewer people actually keep their saws in them! Apart from the saw in the box, included is a full color user manual, which, as is the case with all GMC product manuals lately, very well put together with easy to follow instructions and sharp full-color photographs. There is also a guide fence and arbor nut wrench, but let's examine the saw itself in detail now... MAKITA BTW151SA battery

LS236LS Specifications & Discussion
In terms of construction, the saw body is a mix of hard plastic (incorporating the main handle, motor casing and front handle) and rigid aluminum (saw base, blade guard, bevel and depth adjustments etc). As with most 235mm saws, this one is quite heavy. It weighs in at around 7.5 kgs (16.5 lbs). It seems to be built quite well and feels solid in the hand. As a rigid base plate is necessary for accurate and repeatable cuts, it is good to see GMC have implemented a fairly thick aluminum base on the LS236LS that resists unintentional warping or twisting in use.
